Some fond Memories of time with Denise
BY Uncle Buck (DHE)
You had to be there: Denise was flying into Syracuse to visit and needed someone to pick her up at the airport. Uncle Buck to the rescue: I met Denise as she entered the Terminal and we walked over to pick-up her luggage (1) one suitcase. I told her to make sure she had the right suitcase. We left the airport and headed for Whitney Point. We had a great time laughing all the way. Denise was a real clip that will forever have a special place in my heart. Anyhow can you imagine the surprise when we got to Whitney Point and Denise opened her suitcase to get her insulin out: only to find someone had opened her suitcase and stolen the insulin? Well she wasn’t going to have any of this and was going to call the Airline and file a complaint. Well upon further inspection Denise discovered not only did they steal her insulin; they stolen all her cloths and replaced them with some old lady’s clothing.
As Denise reached for the phone it rang. She answered the phone and you wouldn’t believe how fast Denise settled down and just listened. We heard her say I understand no problem. Sheepishly Denise turned and informed me that we, get this, we made a mistake. We had the wrong suitcase. We off to Syracuse we went. This ride was a little quieter. In fact you could hear a pin drop. We got back home around 3:00AM. As she started up stairs to go to bed she paused, turned and said “don’t worry Uncle Buck, I love you. Good Night.
Another fond Denise memory: As you may remember for years every fall I would stop and visit Ron & Nicole on my way to Florida. On one trip Denise and I spent the afternoon riding around Charlotte going to different race team shops. One of my friends drove the race car hauler for one of the Truck Series Teams. While talking with several of the crew members Denise said, wouldn’t I be a great catch for one of those guys, I like Nascar Racing and tailgate parties. Why don’t they see that? I said, “Denise you may have a chance if you only had laryngitis and didn’t give everyone a headache.†Denise replied with “WELL†and was quiet for almost 10 minutes. After 10 minutes the laryngitis was gone; then came one of those larger than life Denise smiles. We laughed the rest of the afternoon. For years Denise would remind me she didn’t have laryngitis and I would remind her she didn’t have one the crew either; we would have a good laugh. By the way, when you see Bonnie ask her about the time daddy took her t-bird away. AS Uncle Buck often said “The shitters full†see ya! Denise, we love you, you will be in our hearts forever, God Bless us one and all.
