Dixie Hazeltine Long Barts' Obituary
Mrs. Dixie Hazeltine Long Barts, 84, of 6392 Turkey Road, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at her residence.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, December 5, 2009, at Lane Street Baptist Church. Dr. Jonathan Casteel will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 pm Friday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at her residence.
Mrs. Barts was born April 12, 1925 in Monroe. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Wilson Long, Sr. and Lessie Kaziah Long Dean. She worked for Cannon Mills in the Cloth Dept. before moving to Maryland where she was employed by Martin Aircraft and A&P before returning to Kannapolis and retiring from Cannon Mills. She was a member of Lane Street Baptist Church and was also a member of the Tops Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Michael Barts and her brother, Tommy W. Long, Jr.
Mrs. Barts is survived by her husband, Harlin E. Barts; daughter, Brenda B. Hann of Concord; three grandchildren, Todd Hann and wife Elena, Mark Hann and wife Debbie and Tammy Cassera and husband, Tom; and seven great grandchildren, Brent, Brittany, Sara, Carrie, Abby, Emily and Micah.
