Donald Ray Bennett's Obituary
Mr. Donald Ray "Don" Bennett, 77, of 701 Kansas Street, Kannapolis, died Sunday, July 22, 2007, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:30 pm Thursday, July 26, 2007, at Kannapolis Church of God. The Rev. Sam Crisp will officiate. Interment will be at 11:00 am Friday, July 27, 2007, at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:15 pm Thursday at Kannapolis Church of God. At other times, they will be at the residence.
Born January 28, 1930, in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Patrick McWhorter Bennett, Sr. and Essie Bell Seabolt Bennett. He worked as the shop foreman at GMC Truck and Coach in Charlotte. He was a member of the Kannapolis Church of God. A US Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the American Legion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick McWhorter Bennett, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Isis M. Bennett; son, David R. Bennett and wife, Hyoung S. Bennett of Cleveland, TN; daughter, Jo Ann Bennett Smith and husband, Hilton Grady Smith, Jr. of Concord; a brother, Gordon Wally Bennett of Kannapolis; six grandchildren, Marla Renee Bennett, Donald Patrick Bennett, Bonnie Rae Bennett, Travis Ross Smith, Patrick Wallace Bennett and Katelyn Mackenzie Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Cooper Ross Smith and Adeline Louise Smith.
