Doylen Walsh Baker's Obituary
Doylen Walsh Baker, 83, of 901 Nance Street, Kannapolis, died Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at her home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2006, at Franklin Heights Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Grigg, the Rev. Tim Jernigan, Mr. David Simpson and Mr. Jerry Baker will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2006, at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence.
Born June 8, 1923, in Wilkes County, she was the daughter of the late Buell McKinley Walsh and Blanche Phillips Lowe. She was a homemaker and formerly worked for Cannon Mills. She was a lifelong member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert J. Baker, who died May 19, 2004; step-father, James Harlan Lowe; and a brother, Winton Lowe.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Herbert Baker and wife, Cassandra Martin Baker, of Marietta, Georgia; two grandchildren, Josephine Baker Morris and husband, Robert A. Morris, of Washington, DC and Martin Marshall Baker and wife, Jennifer Rhodes Baker, of Winston Salem; and a great-grandson, Rhodes McKinley Baker
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to NorthEast Medical Center Foundation, Jeff Gordon Children's Hospital, 920 Church Street, North, Concord, NC 28025.
