Edward Jackson Ballard's Obituary
Mr. Edward Jackson "Jack" Ballard, 84, passed away Monday, September 8, 2014, at W. G. Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be at 11:00 am Thursday at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
Mr. Ballard was born July 26, 1930 in Gaston County. He was a son of the late George Farland Ballard and Beatrice Ferguson Ballard. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Coast Guard. After his military service he went on to work for and retire from Cannon Mills Plant 1. For 30 years he enjoyed spending time at his lake home at Lake Tillery, where he enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting. He also loved NASCAR.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Ballard; his second wife, Doris Strider Ballard; daughter, Tina Ann Ballard Bost; brother, David Lee Ballard; and his loyal companion of 15 years who died Saturday, Reba Mac.
He is survived by a daughter, Kristie Renea Ballard Hanno.
