Edwin Earl Shaver's Obituary
Mr. Edwin Earl Shaver, 97, went to meet his wife in Heaven Friday, April 7, 2017, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
A funeral service is scheduled for 12:00 pm Monday, April 10, 2017, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Father Alvaro Riquelme, C.Ss.R. will officiate. Interment will follow at St. James Catholic Church Cemetery in Concord.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Sunday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Activity Center.
Mr. Shaver was born December 19, 1919 in Stanly County. He was a son of the late John Linker Shaver and Arlene Wise Shaver. Earl was a graduate of Spencer High School. He was a SSgt. in the US Army Air Corp during WWII from 1941 to 1945 as an aircraft mechanic with the Jolly Rogers, B-24 Group in the South West Pacific. He worked at Cannon Mills before and after the war as a supervisor until his retirement. He had many odd jobs and loved helping others and working on his cars. He was very active in his church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Mary Katherine “Kitty” Shaver; brothers, Herman and Samuel Shaver; sisters, Vernice Sloop and Carolene Shaver; grandson, Robert Tice; daughter in-law, Donna Shaver; and son in-law, Andrew Seamone, Jr.
Mr. Shaver is survived by nine children, Joanne “Jody” McManus and husband Adrian of Salisbury, Katherine Earlene Shaver Seamone of Mt. Pleasant, Rachel Tice and husband Larry of Clayton, Ellen Nix and husband Gary of Concord, Elayne Perry and husband Ric of Kannapolis, Edwin “Ed” Shaver, II and wife Brenda of Concord, Karen Yvonne Faggart and husband John of Rockwell, Louis Shaver and wife Joan of St. Augustine, FL, and William “Doc” Shaver of Kannapolis; 26 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren (with three more on the way); two brothers, John Shaver and Gene Shaver; and three sisters, Margaret Thompson, Helen Sides and Doris Clayton.
