Elizabeth Fisher Gillon's Obituary
Mrs. Elizabeth Fisher Ridenhour Gillon, 99, passed away Friday, September 11, 2015, at Five Oaks Manor in Concord.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church. Rev. Scott Swix will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 pm Tuesday at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church prior to the service.
Mrs. Gillon was born March 13, 1916 in Rowan County. She was a daughter of the late Rev. Martin Luther Ridenhour and Mary Virginia Shaeffer Ridenhour. She worked and retired from the accounting department of Cannon Mills as a bookkeeper.
She has been a member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church since her father came to serve as pastor in 1922. The church was named for the Rev. Whitson Kimball, in the 1800s. He was the great grandfather of Mrs. Ridenhour’s husband.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Wilson Gillon in 1970, an infant son Leonard Wilson Gillon Jr. in 1938 and three sisters and three brothers.
Mrs. Gillon is survived by a daughter, Sylvia Sloop and husband Mike of Concord, NC, a son, Will Gillon and wife Ann of Concord, NC, brother, Joe Ridenhour of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
