Ellen Marie Allmon Almond's Obituary
Mrs. Ellen Marie Almond, born April 28, 1923 in Cabarrus County, entered into the gates of heaven on her mother's birthday, June 26, 2008. She had been in declining health since January 9, 2008.
Marie is the beloved wife of the late Howard "Jay" Harding Almond of Kannapolis. She was a daughter of the late Jacob Monroe Allmon and Laurie Carrie Eury Allmon of Mt. Pleasant.
She is survived by her two children, son, Gary Wayne Almond and wife, Kathy and daughter, Judy Almond, all of Kannapolis; seven grandchildren, Lisa Reinhardt, Eric Cline, Billy Cline, Jayamacia Almond, Amanda Almond, Jessica Elwood and Jonathon Almond; 15 great grandchildren, Natashia, Breanna, Bonnie-Marie, Alexandria, Wesley, Nathaniel, Kourtney, Karrie, B.J., Cameron, Wayde, Destiny, Megan, Wyatt and Maddox; two great-great grandchildren, Niiyanna and Tierra; three sisters, Gertrude Almond, Bernice White and Mary Isenhour; six brothers, Arnold Allman, Fred Allmon, Carl Allman, Glenn Allman, Cecil Allman and Clarence Allman.
Marie worked at Kerr Bleachery and retired from Fieldcrest Cannon at age 73. She was a devoted member of Midway United Methodist Church and a Nursery 1 Sunday School teacher for fifty years. Marie, a kind hearted, compassionate person whose love of God came first, family second, and the love of working outside in God's creation was an inspiration in love to all her family.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 - 7:30 pm Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of her son, Gary, 6727 Bealgray Road, Kannapolis.
A funeral service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Sunday, June 29, 2008, at Midway United Methodist Church. Rev. Dave Cash will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
