Ellie Gertrude Woodie Hamby's Obituary
Mrs. Ellie Gertrude Woodie Hamby, 92, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at TerraBella Asheboro.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Curtis Parker will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 pm Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Ellie was born December 20, 1931 in Wilkes County. She was a daughter of the late Hamp Woodie and Martha Phillips Woodie. She worked Cannon Mills where she started out as a Weaver and retired as a Production Supervisor. She later became a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Kannapolis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Elmer Eugene Hamby, second husband, William M. Gregory; two sisters, Marie Taylor and Elsie Gentry; three brothers, Virgil Woodie, Odell Woodie and Arnold Woodie.
Ellie is survived by two sons, David Hamby of Townville, SC, Larry Hamby and wife Pat of Asheboro; five grandchildren, Sarah Hurley and husband Josh, Zack Hamby, David "Chad" Hamby, Alexandra Hamby and Jonathan Hamby; and five great grandchildren, Wyatt Hurley, Faith Hurley, Jackson Hurley, Ellie Hurley and David "Cameron" Hamby.
Memorials may be sent to Central Baptist Church, 1810 Moose Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
