Elva Thornburg Reynolds' Obituary
Mrs. Elva Sides Thornburg Reynolds, age 90, of South Enochville Road, died Friday, July 30, 2010 at her home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Reynolds will be conducted at 2:30 pm Sunday, August 1, 2010, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Sara Weaver will officiate. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2:15 pm Sunday, prior to the service.
Mrs. Reynolds, the last of ten children, was born on April 7, 1920, a daughter of the late Robert Thomas Sides and Dora Jannette Hampton Sides.
A homemaker, she committed her life to North Kannapolis United Methodist Church where she served as church organist for over 60 years. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, James Arthur Thornburg and her second husband Troy Reynolds who died in 2007.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna Hawkins and her husband, David of Kannapolis; two sons, Barry Thornburg of Concord and Dennis Thornburg and his wife, Sherry of Sanford, NC and one grandchild, Ben Thornburg of Wilmington, NC.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Phyllis Spry for the compassionate care given to their mother and to the staff of Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, especially Cheryll, Ann and Maggie.
