Faye Sullivan Hockenberry's Obituary
Mrs. Faye White Sullivan Hockenberry beloved wife for 47 years of Forest Hockenberry went peacefully home to be with her Lord on Monday August 24, 2009, having not walked for 64 years, she is now walking the streets of Gold.
Born April 9, 1932, she was 77 years old. She was a daughter of the late James Smeades Sullivan and Pearl Frances White Sullivan. Preceding her in going to Heaven, in addition to her parents, was brother, Hoyle Sullivan.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Forest Hockenberry; three sisters, Nancy Starnes husband Marshall of Matthews, Charlene Motley husband Mitchell of Concord, Sharon Marlow husband Ron of Nebo; brother, Steve Sullivan wife Jane of Harrisburg; sister-in-law, Mary Sullivan of Hartsville, SC; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In August of 1945 she was stricken with Polio. She was been on life support systems ever since. She was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a graduate of North State Business College. Besides being a devoted wife, she had a gift of selling and a gift of encouragement and she never met a stranger. Faye loved her Lord and she never failed to tell people about her Lord. She was loved by everyone who knew her.
A funeral service is scheduled for Noon Saturday, August 29, 2009, at Calvary Baptist Church. Rev. Max Smith and Rev. Marshall Brooks will officiate. The body will lie in-state at the church for 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 pm Friday at Lady's Funeral Home.
