Flavel David "Gabby" Smith II's Obituary
Gabby, 46, of Salisbury was called home on Monday, November 24, 2014. Gabby was a wonderful husband, devoted father and loving grandfather to Caleb and Claire.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, November 29, 2014, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Billy Honeycutt and Rev. Richie Honeycutt will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Friday at Lady’s Funeral Home.
Gabby was born December 3, 1967 in Concord. He was a son of Flavel David Smith and Jeanne Whittington Heustess. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a Project Manager for Mostardi-Platt and was a member of Landis Baptist Church. He was an avid softball player and coached baseball in the area for many years.
Gabby is survived by his wife, Tina Shoemaker Smith; father, Flavel D. Smith and wife Shirley; mother, Jeanne W. Heustess; two sons, Cory Stirewalt and wife Miriam and Brett Stirewalt and wife Lauren; brother, Hut Smith; two sisters, Mary McClain and Nichol Burgess; two sisters-in-law, Lisa Faggart and husband Reggie and Melinda Safrit and husband Gary; two grandchildren, Caleb Stirewalt and Claire Stirewalt; and loved his two girls, Ivy and Gracie. He is also survived by his loving uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association, 128 South Tryon St., Suite 1588 Charlotte, NC 28202 or to the American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Ave, Charlotte, NC 28207.
