Floyd Gilbert Sloop's Obituary
Mr. Floyd Gilbert Sloop, 87, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury.
A funeral service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Friday, April 22, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Pastor Jarrod Lanning will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in China Grove.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm - 2:45 pm Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Mr. Sloop was born July 9, 1928 in Cabarrus County. He was a son of the late William A. Sloop and Eva Baity Sloop. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Mr. Sloop retired from the Cannon Mills Swink Plant, and also worked for the Rowan-Salisbury School System at South Rowan High School. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Ruth Walter.
Mr. Sloop is survived by his wife of 37 years Emma Sloop; two daughters, Joyce Sloop Powel of Salisbury and Judy Sloop Sloan and husband David of Rock Hill, SC; step-daughter, Diane McKnight and husband David of China Grove; step-son, James Cauble of Granite Quarry; brother, Paul Sloop and wife Betty of Kernersville, NC; sister, Mary Bowden of Kannapolis; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund, 108 West Rice Street, Landis, NC 28088.
