Frank Evans Bowden's Obituary
Frank Evans Bowden, 86, of 3320 Camp Julia Road, Kannapolis, died Monday, October 5, 2009 at his home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church. The Rev. Robert C. Silber will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the home.
Born January 1, 1923 in Raeford, NC, he was a son of the late Willie C. Bowden and Dula Evans Bowden Jenkins. Mr. Bowden retired several years ago from the Roller Shop of Fieldcrest-Cannon Mills. He was a member of Mt. Mitchell United Methodist, where he was a member of the Fred Baucom Sunday School Class.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie Bowden Garber, who died March 27, 1988; four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mary Sloop Bowden, whom he married November 24, 1956; a son, Ron Bowden and wife Donna of Garner; two sisters, Billie Gunter of Little River, SC and Joyce Perger of Virginia Beach, VA; and four grandchildren, Elizabeth Garber Alexander, Jason Garber, Brooke Bowden and Ben Bowden.
