George Labon Miller's Obituary
Mr. George “Labon” Miller, 95, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016, at St. Andrews Living Center in Concord.
A funeral service is scheduled for 12:00 pm Saturday, December 3, 2016, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Bill Jolley will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 am - 11:45 am Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Mr. Miller was born December 28, 1920 in Mecklenburg County. He was a son of the late George Austin Miller and Foda Honeycutt Miller. He retired from Cannon Mills Company in 1986. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II from 1942 to 1945, where he was at the Battle of the Bulge and the Invasion of Normandy.
Mr. Miller was a member of Flow Harris Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder, Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. He was a loving father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah White Miller; brother, William Curtis Miller; and daughter in law, Sharon Dallman Miller.
Mr. Miller is survived by daughter, Jane Harkey and husband Eddie of Concord; son, David Miller of Concord; three grandchildren, Phillip Miller, Jonathan Miller and wife Renee and Sarah Nicely and husband Bobby; and five great grandchildren, Ellie, Landon and Kenzie Nicely, and Audrey and Reese Miller.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Andrews Living Center for their love and excellent care for the last four and a half years. They also wish to thank Community Hospice for their love and care during the last year.
