George Everette Tilley's Obituary
Mr. George Everette Tilley, 67, of 727 Pleasant Avenue, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at his residence.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, September 3, 2011, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ralph Robinette will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis with military rites rendered by the Cabarrus Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Friday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home.
Mr. Tilley was born June 19, 1944 in Cabarrus County. He was the son of the late Elmer Tilley and Lucille Strickland Tilley.
He was a retired truck driver from Harris Teeter and worked for Food Lion part-time. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Tilley was a member of the House of Prayer. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed working on various home projects.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Helen Rose Reavis Tilley.
Mr. Tilley is survived by daughters, Sandye Gurley and Angela Shelton of Kannapolis and Teresa Henry and husband, Mike of Landis; sisters, Bernice Brooks of Davidson, Mary Davis of TX and Patsy Parker of Raleigh; grandchildren, Nathaniel Shelton, Hannah Shelton and Cody Henry.
