Glay Marie Wilson's Obituary
Mrs. Glay Marie Roseman Wilson, 93, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015, at Caremoor Retirement Center.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, January 24, 2015, at the West A Street Church of God. Rev. Greg Sloop and Rev. Garold Roseman will officiate. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3: 00 pm Saturday prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Wilson was born on January 12, 1922 in Rowan County. She was a daughter of the late John Lewis Roseman and Annie Belle Basinger Roseman. She attended Rowan and Cabarrus County Schools. Mrs. Wilson worked at Cannon Mills and Terry Products for many years. She was a member of Elm Street Church of God/ West A Street Church of God for over 75 years where she was active in the Hannah Circle, choir and women’s ministries. Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Eastern Star and sang in a YMCA Senior Choir. She was an avid gardener and was awarded the “Yard of the Month” in the early 1970’s at their Odell Drive home in Kannapolis. She had a great sense of humor. She loved her family and church. Glay will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, George Douglas Wilson, Sr.; three sisters, Amelia Hileman, Althea Roseman and Lena Roseman; and three brothers, Marvin Roseman, Rev. Craig Roseman and Grady Roseman.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by her son, George “Doug” Douglas Wilson, Jr. and wife, Cathy, of Kannapolis; daughter, Gina Wilson Miller and husband, Fletcher, of Gainesville, GA; two granddaughters, Natalie Upright and husband, Jason, of Kannapolis and Emily Wilson of James Island, SC; and three great grandchildren, Leah, Jake and Jayla Upright.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West A Street Church of God, 2211 West A Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
