Gray Jackson McCarn's Obituary
Gray Jackson McCarn, 95, died Saturday, March 12, 2011. Born September 14, 1915 to the late Hugh Augustus and Mamie Redfearn Jackson, she was preceded in death by her husband Lee McCarn, five brothers and l sister. Mrs. McCarn was educated in the schools in Mt. Croghan and at High Point College where she majored in Home Economics. In 1940, she married Lee McCarn, and they lived in Kannapolis, North Carolina for sixty-three years. After her husband's death, she moved to Summit Place in Mooresville, North Carolina.
Mrs. McCarn was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Kannapolis where she was active in a church circle. Her hobbies included gardening, especially growing lovely roses, sewing, and cooking delicious meals for her family.
Mrs. McCarn is survived by her daughter, Ellen Redfearn McCarn of Huntersville, NC, and her son, Robert Michael McCarn(Pam) of Dublin, GA. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Darrin Julian(Stephanie), Glenda Cheek(Steve), Michael McCarn(Jennifer), Lee McCarn(Sarah), and Susanne McCarn Polhill(John). Her great grandchildren are Steven Julian, Dillon and Tyler Weyandt; Karlee, Cody, and Dylan Cheek; Walker and James McCarn; Will McCarn; and Jack, Ben, and Thomas Polhill.
The family will receive friends at 10:00 AM at Lady's Funeral Home on Monday, March 14, 2011 and a memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Elizabeth Baptist Church in Mt. Croghan, SC at 2:30 PM on Monday. Grandsons and great grandsons will serve at pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials in to the Cemetery Fund at Elizabeth Baptist Church, c/o Jim Spencer, 7298 Highway 52, North; Cheraw, SC, 29520.
