Harold Ray Propst's Obituary
Mr. Harold Ray Propst, 85, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at Transitional Health Services in Kannapolis.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Friday, November 18, 2011, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Tom Cabaniss and Rev. Don Mason will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. Military honors will be rendered by the Cabarrus Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of his daughter, Lisa Gurley, 355 China Grove Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
Mr. Propst was born November 11, 1926 in Cabarrus County. He was the son of the late Joseph Andrew Propst and Daisy Brooks Propst.
Mr. Propst retired as an air traffic controller from Charlotte Douglas International Airport. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Propst was a member of First Baptist Church and of the Men of 40 & 8 of Kannapolis. He was a past Commander of American Legion Post 115 and was a pilot for the Civil Air Patrol.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Margie Propst Bost.
Mr. Propst is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Keeter Propst; daughter, Lisa Gurley and husband, Mark of Kannapolis; son, Gregory Lynn "Greg" Propst of Gastonia; granddaughter, Anna Gurley and grandsons, Justin Propst and Jacob Gurley.
