Hazel Mitchell Sexton's Obituary
Mrs. Hazel Mitchell Sexton, 71, of 1330 Elizabeth Avenue, Kannapolis, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at her home, following a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2004 at Lane Street Baptist Church. Dr. Greg Pierce will officiate. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Carolina Memorial Park.
The body will remain at Lady's Funeral Home until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. At other times they will be at their respective homes.
Born November 24, 1932, in Madison County, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Guy H. Mitchell and Lee Ottis Parham Mitchell. Mrs. Sexton owned and operated, along with her husband, Laura Avenue Grocery. She later worked in the washcloth department of Cannon Mills for 16 years. She was a member of Lane Street Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Haywood Michael Sexton; and a sister, Lucille M. Mauldin.
Survivors include a son, Christopher Sexton and his wife, Bobbi, of Kannapolis; one sister, Ora Belle Hildreth of Kannapolis; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Marie Sexton and Caleb Andrew Albrecht.
