Howard Franklin Baskins' Obituary
Mr. Howard Franklin Baskins, 81, of Kannapolis passed away Monday, May 18, 2009 at Tucker Hospice House.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Daryl Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Born January 15, 1928 in Kannapolis, he was a son of the late James Arthur Baskins and Myrtle E. Hargett. He retired from Cannon Mills, Plant 4 Weave Room with 40 years of service. In his early years, he was a driver for Kannapolis Transit, delivered papers for the Kannapolis Daily Independent for 20 years, and was manager for Fredrickson Motor Freight. After retirement, he was a security officer for Wackenhut in Kannapolis. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, having served from 1945 to 1950.
Mr. Baskins was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy White Baskins, who died April 20, 2009.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Baskins of Concord; a son, Franky Baskins and wife Cheryl of Harrisburg; one sister, Laverne Baskins Phillips of Bradenton, FL; two step-grandchildren, Abby Barringer and Kerri Barringer also survive.
