Hoyt Wayne Wilhite's Obituary
Mr. Hoyt Wayne Wilhite, 68, passed away Friday, October 25, 2013, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Monday, October 28, 2013, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Gary Scoggins, son-in-law, will officiate. Interment with military funeral honors will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.
The family will receive friends and family from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm Monday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Mr. Wilhite was born April 15, 1945 in Elberton, GA. He was a son of the late Robert Clayton Wilhite and Della Lou McConnell Wilhite. He retired as an automobile mechanic. He was a veteran of the US Army having served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War and was a recipient of a Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars. Hoyt was a member of Second Baptist Church in Kannapolis. He loved to go fishing and enjoyed working on cars. He also enjoyed cooking on his grill for family gatherings.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Horace and Wilton Wilhite.
Mr. Wilhite is survived by his wife, Shirley Lois Vernon Wilhite; two daughters, Donna Scoggins and husband Gary of Kannapolis and Kelly Denise Wilhite of Salisbury; son, Hoyt W. “Chuck” Wilhite and wife Frances of Charlotte; sister, Ruth W. Morgan of China Grove; brother, Carlton Wilhite of China Grove; seven grandchildren, Landon, Blake, Haley, Chase and Carley Wilhite, Lacie Keene and Brandon Meece; and four great grandchildren, Ally and Jaylce and Emma and Lily.
