Ishmael Rodgers Gardner's Obituary
Ishmael Earthen Rodgers Gardner, 88 of Kannapolis passed away peacefully to her home in Heaven on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at Northeast Medical Center in Concord.
Mrs. Gardner was born on August 23, 1918 in Rowan County to her parents, Luke Brady and Minnie Frances Osborne Rodgers who precede her in death. She is also preceded in death by two sisters Juanita Coley and Vaydean Cheek and one brother Hoyle Rodgers. She was married 62 years to the late John Thomas Crawford Gardner. A daughter, Nancy Page, precedes her in death. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Judy Gardner of Kannapolis, Jerry and Donna Gardner of Kannapolis, and Reid and Cynthia Gardner of Conover, N.C. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Gardner was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She was a homemaker for most of her life. She enjoyed working in the garden, cooking and caring for her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Cleveland, N.C.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 -2:00 Thursday, November 16, 2006, with a service of remembrance at 2:30 at Lady's Funeral Home in Kannapolis with the Rev. Nathaniel Austin officiating. Burial will follow at 4:00 at Christ Episcopal Church in Cleveland.
