J. C. Clontz's Obituary
Mr. John Calvin "J. C." Clontz, 77, of 1118 Grove Street, Kannapolis, died Thursday, January 30, 2003.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, February 2, 2003, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Don Shuman, Rev. Sarah Weaver and Mr. Doug Russell will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence.
Born May 1, 1925, in Union County, NC, he was a son of the late Baxter J. Clontz and the late Ollie Jane Helms Clontz. Mr. Clontz retired several years ago from Cannon Mills, Plant One, where he was employed in the No. 7 weave room. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was a member of the Bullock Sunday School class for more that 50 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mittie Lou Utley Clontz, who died in 1976; a son, John Calvin Clontz, Jr., who died in 1945; two sisters, Kathleen Carpenter and Betty Thomas; and three brothers, Grady Clontz, Barker Clontz and Donald Clontz.
Survivors include his daughter, Debra Clontz "Debbie" Troutman and her husband, Phillip, of the home; four sisters, Edith Austin of Concord, Joyce Russell and Chattie Wilson of Kannapolis, Jerrie Hasty of Monroe; one brother, Bridger Clontz of Monroe; and three grandchildren, Justin Troutman, Jessica Troutman and Heather Troutman.
