J. B. Woodard's Obituary
Mr. J. B. Woodard, 76, of 413 Russell Street, Kannapolis, died Monday, October 28, 2002, at NorthEast Medical Center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 30, 2002, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Willie Rash will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove with military rites conducted by the Rowan Veterans Council.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 PM Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the residence.
Born July 9, 1926, in Ruby, SC, he was a son of the late John Mathis Woodard and the late Bessie Mae Jordan Woodard. Mr. Woodard had lived in this area most of his life. He retired in 1991 from the Washcloth Department of Fieldcrest-Cannon Mills. He later worked part-time for Barton Security. Mr. Woodard was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served with the Army Corps of Engineers.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Maxine Brown Woodard; one daughter, Sandra Roberts and her husband, Dale, of Concord; one son, Jim Woodward of Concord; one brother, John Howard Woodard and his wife, Doris, of Kannapolis; four grandchildren, Michel Stamey and her husband, Brian Stamey II, of Kannapolis, Chris Voyles and his fianc e, Kelly Ann Brown, of China Grove, Justin Allen Woodard and Matthew James Woodard, both of Goose Creek, SC; and four great-granddaughters, Tiffany Cobler, Katherine Stamey and Madeline Stamey, all of Kannapolis, and Kassidy Voyles of China Grove.
