Jack Straight McCraven's Obituary
Mr. Jack Straight McCraven, 82, of Davidson, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
A funeral service is scheduled for 4:00 pm Friday, June 10, 2011, at Shiloh United Methodist Church. Rev. Bruce Handy will officiate. Interment will follow at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. McCraven will lie in state from 3 to 4:00 pm Friday at Shiloh United Methodist Church.
Mr. McCraven was born December 29, 1928 in York County, SC. He was the son of the late John Thomas McCraven and Bertha Mayhew McCraven. He worked for over forty years for Cannon Mills as fixer. He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Bruce McCraven on March 10, 1981.
Mr. McCraven is survived by two daughters, Glynis Ford and Sandra Owens both of Concord; three sons, Steve McCraven of Smyrna, TN, Allen McCraven of Concord and John McCraven of Kannapolis; two sisters, Reba Hardesty of Mooresville and Willie Mae Warden of Ohio; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the entire staff of the Tucker Hospice House for the loving care Mr. McCraven was given.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
