James R. Alexander's Obituary
James Robinson Alexander, 87, of Trinity Oaks in Salisbury and formerly of Kannapolis, died Saturday, May 6, 2006.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church. The Rev. Richard A. Rhoades and the Rev. Hoke Ritchie will officiate. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in China Grove. The body will lie in state in the church from 10:30 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Mr. Alexander was born, July 29, 1918, in Cabarrus County, a son of the late C. D. Alexander and Pearl Robinson Alexander. He retired from Kannapolis Ice & Fuel Co. and Twin Oaks Poultry. He was a very active member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council, property committee, Lutheran Men in Missions and was a Boy Scout Leader. He was a US Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Mr. Alexander was preceded in death by his wife, Lida Turbyfill Alexander, who died April 11, 1997.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary Lida Alexander of Raleigh; and a number of nieces and nephews.
