James Roscoe Bentley's Obituary
James Roscoe Bentley, 92, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday afternoon, July 1, 2014, at home surrounded by his loving family.
A funeral service will be held at 6:30 pm Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Living Water Church of God. Pastor Wade Easom and Dr. Greg Sloop will officiate. Interment will be at 11:00 am Monday, July 7, 2014, at Brookhill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 pm Sunday at the church prior to the service.
James was born on September 11, 1921 in Taylorsville. He was a son of the late Roman Bentley and Letha Bentley. James attended the Taylorsville school system and worked for Cannon Mills in Kannapolis for 47 years before retiring. He enjoyed being outside gardening, taking care of his cows and spending time with his family. James was a member of the Living Water Church of God formerly the Lane Street Church of God for forty-four years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife after 65 years of marriage, Dovie Ann Bentley; and sister, Rosie Whitley.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Shirley Correll (Sonny) of Salisbury; three sons, Larry Bentley (Mary Sue) of Kannapolis, Harry “Wayne” Bentley (Myra) and Randy Bentley (Robbie), both of Rockwell; five grandchildren, Lisa Bentley-Hawks (Rusty), Eric Correll (Anne), Kelly Cole (Jeff), Tara Casper (David) and Harold Bentley (Miranda); and nine great grandchildren.
The family would like to especially thank Hospice of Rowan County and family and friends for the loving care of their father.
