James Ladson Richards' Obituary
Mr. James "Jim" Ladson Richards, Sr., 93, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Robert Earnhardt will officiate. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
Mr. Richards was born on November 19, 1919 in Charlotte. He was the youngest and last surviving child of the late William Sikes Richards and Mamie Matilda Patrick Richards.
Mr. Richards was a World War II veteran and served from June 6, 1941 to November 1, 1945. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army's Anti-Aircraft Division in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Richards was employed by Cannon Mills Company for many years and was a supervisor at Plant 1 in Kannapolis in the Distribution Center.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers; five sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 68 years, Bertha S. Richards; daughter, Barbara J. Richards; and son, James "Laddie" Ladson Richards, Jr., all of Kannapolis.
