James Owen Sikes' Obituary
Mr. James Owen Sikes, 88, of 112 Hemlock Avenue, Kannapolis, died Saturday, October 26, 2002, at Genesis Eldercare of Mooresville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2002, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Mickey Moree will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Born May 16, 1914, in Mt. Croghan, SC, he was a son of the late James Jack Sikes and the late Blanche Lowery Sikes. Mr. Sikes retired after 45 years of service, as a foreman in the Sheet Department of Cannon Mills Company. He was a member of Midway United Methodist Church where he was a member of the United Methodist Men and served as an usher for a number of years.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Rachel Lisk Sikes; a daughter, Taska Sikes Smith and her husband, C. Jack Smith, of Mooresville; a son, James Sikes and his wife, Sybil Sikes, of Laurinburg; a brother, Tracy Sikes of Mt. Croghan, SC; six grandchildren, Kellie, Greg, Lisa, Jeff, Mark and Jason; and four great-grandchildren.
