James Funderburke Stancil's Obituary
Mr. James Funderburke Stancil, 89, of 607 Ebenezer Road, Kannapolis, died Monday, May 2, 2005, at NorthEast Medical Center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2005, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Terry Deitz and the Rev. Larry Beaver will officiate. Interment with military graveside rites will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence.
Born February 21, 1916, in Mt. Croghan, SC, he was a son of the late Joseph Bennett Stancil and Bertha Leona Steen Stancil. He had lived in this area since 1939 and retired several years ago from the cutting room of Cannon Mills, Plant One. He was a US Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Poston Perkins VFW Post 8989 in Kannapolis. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and enjoyed attending church, singing and visiting area nursing homes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Perry Stancil.
Survivors include his wife, Janie Steele Stancil; a daughter, Brenda Stancil of the home; and three sisters, Clara Jenkins and Leona Hancock, both of Mt. Croghan, SC and Reba Stancil of Cheraw, SC.
