James Lemuel Staton's Obituary
Mr. James L. "Jim" Staton, 88, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015, at the Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks in Salisbury.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Landis. Rev. Dr. Jarrod Lanning will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Landis.
Mr. Staton was born August 28, 1927 in Mocksville, NC. He was a son of the late E.C. Staton and Clara Moore Staton. He retired in 1985 from Duke Power Co. Mr. Staton was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Korean conflict and he had previously served in the U.S. Coast Guard near the end of World War II.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Landis and a member of the Eureka Masonic Lodge #283 in China Grove for over 60 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Clara Staton in 1962.
Survivors include his wife, Frances P. Staton, a daughter, Lee Ann Staton Freeze and husband Bryan of China Grove; a son, Alan Staton and wife, Libby of China Grove and two grandsons, Alex Linn and James H. Staton.
The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to the Landis Fire & Police Departments as well as the neighbors who have helped them this past year.
The family request memorials for Mr. Staton to be made to, Trinity Lutheran Church, 108 West Rice Street, Landis, NC 28088.
