Janice Aldridge Wilson's Obituary
Janice Marie Aldridge Wilson, 84, of Concord, peacefully passed away Saturday, July 8 at Morningside Assisted Living Center. Her departure leaves a profound sense of loss, but her memory will be cherished.
The family will receive friends beginning 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 15 at New Gilead Reformed Church, 2400 Old Salisbury-Concord Road, Concord. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. officiated by the Rev. Wes Judy. Burial in the church cemetery will follow afterward.
Janice was born October 7, 1938, in Concord, daughter of the late George Atlas Aldridge and Mary Winona Bost Aldridge. She worked in the textile industry for Craftsman Finishers and Willis Hosiery Mills.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Carl Lee Wilson who shared a lifetime of love and companionship with her. Also preceding her were brothers Bill Aldridge, Junior Aldridge, and Carl Aldridge; and sisters Frances Riley, Mary Wilson, Sarah Sossoman, and Rebecca Aldridge.
She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Wilson Riggs and her husband Jim of Kings Mountain, grandson Alan Wilson Riggs and his wife Erin Elizabeth of Farmville, and granddaughter Erin Frances Riggs of Fletcher.
Janice thoroughly enjoyed being Memaw to her grandchildren imparting them with a love of cooking, arts and crafts, adventure, and bargain shopping, As a member since birth of New Gilead Reformed Church, she was involved with Sunday and Vacation Bible Schools, Senior Youth, Johns River Retreats, and Young at Heart, and the Women’s Guild.
Janice graduated from Winecoff School in 1958 and was active with her alumni group. As a member of the Women of the Moose she served as Senior Regent. She supported community benevolence with Meals on Wheels.
