Jewell Brown Rigsby's Obituary
Mr. Jewell Brown "Red" Rigsby, 80, of 4020 Armstrong Road, Concord, died Thursday, July 7, 2005, at NorthEast Medical Center.
The body will be taken from Lady's Funeral Home to Love Cantrell Funeral Home, 100 E. Church Street, Smithville, TN, where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2005, with Brother Virgil Hibdon, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Jefferson Cemetery.
Born February 22, 1925, in DeKalb County, TN, he was a son of the late James Dibrell Rigsby and Lala Turner Rigsby. He was a member of Mt. Hope Baptist Church in Smithville, TN and owned and operated Rigsby's Nursery. Mr. Rigsby was a US Navy veteran of World War II.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Margie Elizabeth Pascal Rigsby; a son, James Brown Rigsby; two sisters, Lorine Chandler and Bertie Wheller; two brothers, Everett Rigsby and Orville Rigsby; and three grandchildren, Micah Rigsby, Christie Dawn Miller and Eula Rigsby.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Davis Rigsby; two daughters, Margie Rigsby Cantrell and husband, Jerry, of Murfreesboro, TN and Melissa Ann King of Smithville, TN; seven sons, Danny Rigsby, Lloyd Rigsby, Billy Joe Rigsby Ronald Rigsby and Donald Rigsby, all of Smithville, TN, Floyd Rigsby of Indiana and Bob Rigsby and wife, Debbie, of North Carolina; a step-son, Ernest Smathers, Jr. of North Carolina; a step-daughter, Bonnie Diemond of Texas; two sisters, Classie Dean Zoll of McMinnville, TN and Cleta Ray Gwinn of California; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
