John Allman Sapp's Obituary
John Allman Sapp, 89, of 7123 Gold Hill Road, Concord, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at his home.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Concord First Assembly. Pastor Kevin Whidden will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by the North Carolina National Guard Honor Guard.
The family will greet friends at the church following the service. At other times, they will be at the home.
Born April 3, 1921 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Emmett C. Sapp, Sr. and Ada Allman Sapp. He retired as a brick mason with Cannon Mills, following more than 45 years of employment. A US Army veteran of World War II, John was an avid hunter and gardener. His family fondly remembers his cantaloupes and watermelons. He was also an Atlanta Braves fan and a member of Concord First Assembly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynne Sapp Bizzell; four sisters, Stella Goodman, Pearl Sapp, Mary Lois Petrea and Gurthie Sapp; and three brothers, Frank Sapp, Hoover Sapp and Homer Sapp.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary Louise Simmons Sapp; daughter, Ruthie Sapp Moser and husband, Don, of Concord; son-in-law, Charlie Bizzell of Charlotte; two brothers, Emmett C. Sapp, Jr. of Harrisburg and Mack L. Sapp of Concord; and two grandchildren, Cole Moser and Candace Moser.
Memorials may be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
The family expresses great appreciation to the nurses, chaplains and social workers from Hospice of Cabarrus County and VA Home Based Primary Care for the special care and concern given to them and their loved one.
