Johnny Michael Goforth's Obituary
Mr. Johnny Michael Goforth, 69, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Leon Hawks will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:00 pm Thursday prior to the service at Lady’s Funeral Home.
Mr. Goforth was born on November 14, 1944 in Concord. He was a son of the late Melvin M. Goforth and Clara Lee Mauldin Goforth. Mr. Goforth was a member of the boys choir in Kannapolis at 11 years old and participated in the Rowan Choral Society and the Piedmont Players. He attended Brevard College and East Carolina University as a music major studying the guitar, mandolin and voice. Mr. Goforth was US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked as a security guard for First Union. Mr. Goforth enjoyed animals, especially his dog, Toby, his bird, Jose and the cats.
Mr. Goforth is survived by his wife, Sherry Smallwood Goforth; three sisters, Maxine Alexander, Darlene Wheatley and Linda Hamilton and husband Harold, all of Kannapolis; two nieces, Shelia Alexander, Leigh Linn and husband Robbie; two nephews, Jackie Alexander and Tim Wheatley; four grand nieces, Erica Alexander, Haley Alexander, Mackenzie Linn and Keria Linn
