Johnsie Gibson Caton's Obituary
Mrs. Johnsie Gibson Caton, 87, of 582 S. Union Street, Concord, died Sunday, October 14, 2007, at Universal Healthcare.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday, October 18, 2007, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Judy White will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Born April 17, 1920 in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Archie William Gibson and Catherine Pearle Moore Gibson. A 1937 graduate of Concord High School, she retired from Belk Department Store as a sales associate in the infant and children's department following more than 30 years of service. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Kannapolis. Mrs. Caton liked to travel and enjoyed crocheting and collecting turtles. Her family will also remember her as an excellent baker and cook.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Franklin "Frank" Caton, who died July 19, 2007; two sisters, Helen Owen and Nancy Swing; and two brothers, William Gibson and Don Gibson.
Survivors include her son, Franklin Alexander "Frank" Caton and wife, Martha, of Palatine, IL; one sister, Joyce Furr of Mt. Pleasant; two granddaughters, Annette Caton and Angela Tuomy; and two great-granddaughters, Emilee Tuomy and Alexis Tuomy.
