Josie Lee Garner Benton's Obituary
Josie Lee Garner Benton, 89, a resident of Transitional Health Services, and formerly of Deaton Street in Kannapolis, died Friday, May 10, 2002, at NorthEast Medical Center. She joins the rest of her family, three sisters and three brothers, her father and mother who went before her.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 PM Sunday, May 12, 2002, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Charlie Littlejohn will officiate. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Born April 21, 1913, in Madison County, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Alfred A. Garner and the late Elizabeth Bennett Garner. She retired in 1983, after 45 years of service, from the Sewing Room of Cannon Mills, Plant One in Kannapolis. She had lived in this area since 1929 and was a member of Shadybrook Baptist Church.
In addtion to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers; a grandson, Michael Todd Benton; and a daughter-in-law, Nedra Reynolds Benton.
Survivors include two sons, Randall Garner Benton and his wife, Ida, of Poquoson, VA, Eldon Lavon Benton and special freind, Trudy Watts, of Davidson; two grandchildren, Evan L. Benton of Davidson, Robin Nicole Benton-Hauck of Centerville, OH; and two great-grandchildren, Nedra Nicole Hauck and Larran David Hauck, both of Centerville, OH.
Memorials may be sent of Shadybrook Baptist Church, 1009 Oakwood Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
