Joyce Elaine Harrington Ashby's Obituary
Mrs. Joyce Elaine Harrington Ashby, 85, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Big Elm Nursing Center in Kannapolis.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Her son, Rev. Virgil Clayton Ashby will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:45 pm Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ashby was born March 8, 1935 in Litaker, NC. She was a daughter of the late Spencer Boyd Harrington and Lida Cates Harrington. She was a past member of North Kannapolis Wesleyan Church. She loved music, including writing songs and singing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Clayton Ashby; son, Robbie Eugene Ashby; and two brothers, Kenneth Harrington and David Harrington.
Mrs. Ashby is survived by two daughters, Shelia Mae Ashby Milligan and husband Darrel of Kannapolis and Dorothy Elaine Ashby; son, Rev. Virgil Clayton Ashby and wife Debbie of Rockwell; five granddaughters, Christina Ashby, Samantha Smarr and husband John, Patricia Ashby, Lisa Ashby and Michelle Ashby; grandson, Robbie Ashby, II; great granddaughter, Brandy Allen; and brother, Joe Harrington of Enochville.
