Karen Lynn Hampton's Obituary
Mrs. Karen Lynn Harrison Hampton, 78, departed this life on March 29, 2012 in Concord. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Although we are heartbroken from our loss, we find comfort in knowing she is smiling and loving the beauty of her new, pain-free body in Heaven, where we will meet again.
She was born Oct. 20, 1933 in Kannapolis. She was the daughter of Abner Heath Harrison and Bertie Hazeline Rhyne Harrison.
Mrs. Hampton is survived by daughters, Leslie MacDonald of DeLeon Springs, FL, Dana MacDonald Dillon and husband Robert of Tavernier, FL, and Julie Hampton Ganis of Eden; son-in-law, Ralph Ganis of Oakboro; grandchildren, Jake Dillon and Emily Dillon; sister Judy Mitchell-Farri and husband Joe of Wilmington; brother, Jack Harrison and wife Janet of Concord; nephew, Heath Harrison of Wilmington; niece, Jeana Harrison of Concord; her beloved caregiver of 5 years Lynn Wall and her loving cat Rosie.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her niece, Maria Elena Mitchell.
Mrs. Hampton had a multitude of adopted children through the years and was fondly known as Mama K. These include Tammy Childers and Buff Morgan who were faithful friends during her last days, but also too many others, both living and deceased, to be mentioned. These many adopted children still refer to Mama K as the glue who held everybody together and she will never be forgotten by any of them. Many people reading this will recognize that they were one of them. She worked for many years at Kale-Lawing Co. in Concord. She loved animals, music, Westerns, football and Florida, but mostly she loved her family and friends.
A memorial service was held on March 31, 2012.
Memorials may be sent to Humane Society of Concord and Greater Cabarrus County, PO Box 5347, Concord, NC 28027.
