Kathryn Virginia Scarboro's Obituary
Kathryn Virginia Scarboro, 90, formerly of Kannapolis and Raleigh, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013 at Mary Gran Nursing Center in Clinton following several years of declining health.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, March 29, 2013 at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. Rev. Leon Hawks will officiate.
Virgina was born in Cabarrus County and graduated from J.W. Cannon High School in Kannapolis and Lees-McRae College ('48) in Banner Elk. She served as a church secretary at First Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis and White Memorial Presbyterian in Raleigh. Virginia retired in 1987 after 25 years of service as administrative secretary to the Vice President of Business and Finance at Meredith College in Raleigh.
Virginia was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Raleigh where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was active in the Presbyterian Women. She enjoyed volunteering at the NC Museum of Art.
Preceding her in death were her parents, C.V. and Margaret Scarboro; sister, Myra Scarboro; and two brothers, Clyde Scarboro and Lewis (Jack) Scarboro.
Virginia is survived by her sister, Sarah Scarboro Keever of Warsaw; sister-in-law, Margaret Owen Scarboro of Orangeburg, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
