Kay Marie Stoner Barbee's Obituary
Ms. Kay Marie Stoner Barbee, 86, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2025.
A funeral service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church. Rev. Marty Ramey will officiate. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:45 pm Sunday at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church.
Ms. Barbee was born July 28, 1938 to the late James Everette Stoner and Marie Sifford Stoner. Kay attended Mount Pleasant High School where she graduated in 1956. She was employed at Cannon Mills Plant 6 in the office for 27 years, then later employed with the City of Concord and retired in 2009. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She always had a smile on her face and was willing to help anyone. Kay loved shopping at JC Penney, Belk, and Frankie J's Boutique, and was always looking for a good sale. She also enjoyed working in her garden.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Stoner Furr.
Ms. Barbee is survived by three children, Larry Barbee and wife Sharon, Angela Barbee Smith, and Donna Barbee Forney and husband Calvin; siblings, James "Jim" Stoner and wife Janet, Linda Stoner Black and husband Larry; and brother-in-law, Larry "Wayne" Furr; seven grandchildren, Susan Barbee Taylor and husband Herb, Karen Barbee, Megan Smith Harris and husband Kevin, McKaela Braswell, Joshua Braswell, Alec Forney and wife Lindsay, and Wesley Forney; and three great grandchildren, Alexis, Taylor, and Kaylee Barbee.
