Kenneth William Lanspery's Obituary
Kenneth W. Lanspery, 67, of Kannapolis, went home to the Lord and his family on Monday, November 29, 2010.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday, Saturday, December 4, 2010, at Bethpage Presbyterian Church, 6020 Mooresville Road, Kannapolis. Rev. Rick Hoffarth will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:45 pm on Saturday in the church fellowship hall.
Born in Newburgh, NY to John and Janet Pike Lanspery, he was one of eight children. After a 4-year tour in the U.S. Marines, he joined IBM in Kingston, NY and retired in Charlotte, NC after 31 years. Kenneth was a member of Bethpage Presbyterian Church of Kannapolis for 32 years and gained many dear friends through that association.
Kenneth is predeceased by his parents, his sister, Jeanne L. Dickson, and brothers, Gary, Jimmy and Jeff Lanspery.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Fox Lanspery; two daughters, Wendy L. Sarratt and husband, Charlie of Raleigh, NC and Jill L. Staton and husband, Sakealo of Kannapolis, NC; son, Bryan W. Lanspery and wife, Tonya (TeeJay) of Boise, ID, who are expecting the 7th grandchild in February. Also surviving are grandchildren, Sakealo, Kiana, Kenna and Keely Staton, Jake and Drew Sarratt, and brothers, Jack, Dave and Bob Lanspery.
Kenneth's two greatest loves in his life were his family, especially his grandchildren, and golf. After retirement, he enjoyed many wonderful rounds of golf with his dear friends, Ken Jayne, Ken Denbroeder (the 3 Ken's) and sometimes 4th player, JP.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to Bethpage Presbyterian Church, 6020 Mooresville Road, Kannapolis, NC 28081, Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081, Salvation Army, 216 Patterson Avenue NE, Concord, NC 28025 or to the charity of one's choice.
The family would like to thank all those who supported Ken with prayers, cards and visits throughout his 2 year battle with cancer.
