Mr. Kenneth Martin, 89, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday, September 13, 2021 after years of declining health.

Mr. Martin was born May 12, 1932 in Murphy. He was a son of the late James Martin and Pearl Cole. He was a member of Army Airborne 10th Special Forces, stationed at Fort Bragg. He took training in Colorado and Wyoming, and was later stationed in Germany, Greenwich Bad Tolz area, returning back to the states in 1955. He married his wife Nancy, then moved to Newport News and Hampton, VA, where he worked for the C&O Railroad as a fireman. Their son, Kent, was born there in 1956. They later moved back to Kannapolis. Kenneth was employed with General Motors Corp. in Charlotte and was transferred to Doraville, GA, where he retired in 1987, moving back to Kannapolis. He enjoyed fishing and sports. The NY Yankees were his favorite baseball team.
