Leona Sullivan Dial's Obituary
Mrs. Leona Sullivan Dial, 87, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2025, at her home in Atlanta.
A funeral mass is scheduled for 2:00 pm Friday, July 18, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 9 to 10:00 am Friday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Leona was born August 25, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA. She was a daughter of the late John Joseph Sullivan and Kathryn Krieger Sullivan. She retired from the Office of Naval Research as an Administrative Assistant in Arlington, VA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Gordon Dial; and her eight sisters, Dolores Kass, Joan Gorman, Rita Berg, Charlotte Duchossois, Vivian Kalinoski, Kathleen Ratcliffe, Theresa Mello, Mary Jane Driesbach.
Leona is survived by her daughter, Deirdre Waldron (Brian) of Atlanta; her four sons, George H. Dial (Wendy) of Albuquerque, NM, Kevin D. Dial (Lisa) of Slidell, LA, John J. Dial of Picayune, MS and Matthew Q. Dial (Sheila) of Lakeland, FL; seven grandchildren, Amelia, Ashley, Jack, Madison, Kennan, Christopher and Patrick; and three great grandchildren, Quinn, Ridley and Emmett.
