Lois Brookshire Watts' Obituary
Mrs. Lois Brookshire Watts, 94, of 1917 Glenwood Street, Kannapolis, died Wednesday, November 27, 2002, at her residence.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, November 30, 2002 at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tim Jernigan will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home. At other times they will be at the residence.
Mrs. Watts was born October 15, 1908, in Alexander County, NC. She was a daughter of the late J. O. Brookshire and Martha Belle Herman Brookshire. She retired in 1972 from the Number Six Weave Room of Cannon Mills, Plant One where she was employed for 45 years. She was a master weaver and instructed others how to weave. She had lived in this area since 1928. Mrs. Watts was a member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church and was a former member of First Baptist Church, North Kannapolis Baptist Church and Blackwelder Park Baptist Church. She was an excellent seamstress and a wonderful cook. She was well known for her apple pies and coffeecakes.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Fred Morris Watts, on August 2, 2002; four sisters, Blanche Watts, Laura Kerley, Jenna Lee Reid and Marie Cheek; and two brothers, Ross Brookshire and Bill Brookshire.
Mrs. Watts is survived by a daughter, Shirley Marie Watts of Nashville, TN; one sister, Alma Teague of Taylorsville; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Watts of Kannapolis and Thelma Deal of Taylorsville; and many nieces and nephews.
