Lonnie Stancil Baucom, Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Lonnie Stancil Baucom, Sr. 90, of 108 West 22nd Street, Kannapolis, died Wednesday, April 29,2009 at CMC-NorthEast.
Funeral services will be conducted at New Hope Lutheran Church, Saturday May 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Kim E. Trabold will officiate. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the church prior to the service. At other times, they will make headquarters at the home of his daughter, Peggy Lynch, 2007 Normandy Road, Kannapolis.
Mr. Baucom was born on June 29, 1918, a son of the late, James Wilson Baucom and Anna Chisholm Baucom. A veteran of the US Army, he served during WW II. He retired from Cannon Mills, No. 3 weave room at Plant No. 6, where he was a loom fixer. He was a charter member of New Hope Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Helen E. Baucom; a daughter, Peggy Lynch of Kannapolis; and a son, Lonnie Baucom, Jr. of Oak Island, NC. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Derek Hooper, Julie Hagy, J.W. Baucom, Wade Baucom, and Mishelle Mullis; eight great-grandchildren, Phillip Mann, Brett Hooper, Ryan Hooper, Christian Hooper, Brittany Lynch, Randy Rayfield, Amanda Hagy, and Reese Hagy; and one great-great-grandchild, Adrian Mann.
Memorials for Mr. Baucom may be made to New Hope Lutheran Church, Building Fund, 1615 Brantley Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
