Louis "Pete" Valligny's Obituary
Louis P. “Pete” Valligny, 87, of Kannapolis, NC passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
He was born in Nyack, NY on February 1, 1937. He was the son to the late Bernard Valligny and Anna Cooper Valligny.
Pete graduated from Nyack High School and studied Engineering at Rensselaer Polytech Institute in Troy, NY. The automotive industry was his passion and built several race cars, which he ran in gymkhana courses and also raced at Lime Rock, CT. He was associated with the Rockland Auto Competition Club and owned his own automotive business for many years.
He was a devoted and loving father to Christopher D. Valligny of E. Norriton, PA, Kimberly M. Acosta of Greenwood Lake, NY, and Patricia A. McIver of Greensboro, NC. He was known affectionately
as “Oopa” to his 6 grandchildren, Sophia Valligny, Allison Acosta, Abigail McIver, Samuel Valligny, Jake Acosta and Declan McIver.
He is also survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Hinkle Valligny.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
