Louise Carter Rouse's Obituary
Mrs. Rouse, 95, went to meet her Heavenly Father on April 11, 2010. Mrs. Rouse was a resident of Transitional Health Services in Kannapolis, NC. She would have celebrated her 96th birthday on June 14.
She began her life in Patrick Springs, VA. She was the daughter of the late William Dennis and Margaret East Carter. Mrs. Rouse was preceded in death by her loving and faithful husband of 42 years, Marvin Rouse.
After graduating from Denton High School, at the age of 15, she attended High Point Business College and Kings Business College. After graduating, she began a career as a teacher. She taught typing and short hand at Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Robbins, NC, Raburn Gap Presbyterian College in Georgia, and Evans College.
During World War II, Louise married Marvin and the couple moved to Hawaii. While in Hawaii, Louise was awarded a job as Secretary to the Admiral of the US Navy. In 1952 she and Marvin settled in the town of Kannapolis, built a home and lived peacefully thereafter.
In 1958 they became members of Jackson Park Baptist Church. Not only was Louise an active member, she also became the Church secretary and held this position for 20 years. Louise is fondly remembered for her optimistic outlook on life, her gentle nature and her generous spirit. She was a true woman of God and her deep relationships with Jesus Christ sustained her through life's many turns. When Louise moved into assisted living in 2004, she quickly adjusted to the lifestyle change and stated "she would have more time to pray"! Those who knew Louise experience the reality of Christ's love through her life.
Louise is survived by her long time friend and companion, Christine York.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rouse are scheduled for 2:00 Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Jackson Park Baptist Church. Rev. Evan Johnson and Rev. Joel Ervin will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 pm Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Marvin H. Rouse Scholarship Fund, c/o Jackson Park Baptist Church, 1005 Jackson Street, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
