LTC Preston Ray Savage, Jr., Ret., 80, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013 at CMC-NorthEast.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Randy Thompson and Rev. Gene Edwards will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 pm Saturday prior to the service at Lady's Funeral Home.
LTC Savage was born on July 4, 1932 in Alabama. He was a son of the late Preston Ray Savage, Sr. and Estelle Henderson Savage. LTC Savage graduated from Georgia Tech in 1955 as a textile engineer. He lettered in cross country running at Georgia Tech. LTC Savage retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the US Army after thirty years of service. He was the owner and operator of Ray Savage Chemical Corporation and had been a member of Concord First Assembly for over thirty years. The Lieutenant Colonel will be remembered for his infectious laugh that everyone enjoyed.
LTC Savage is survived by his wife, Juanita Davis Savage; three children, Preston Ray Savage, III and Susan Christensen and husband Glenn of Charlotte and Eric Upchurch and wife Beth of Kannapolis; sister, Barbara Baucom of Maryville, Wash.; four grandchildren, Emily Andersen and David Andersen of Charlotte, Christopher Upchurch and wife Amanda of China Grove and Ashlee Larrabee and husband David of Lowell, Mass.; two great grandchildren, Emma Grace Upchurch and Zachary Sam Larrabee.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Genesis Baptist Church, Building Fund, 9710 Old Concord-Salisbury Road, China Grove, NC 28023.
